Reporting abuse to the Police

Following the BBC documentary ‘inside the cult of the Jesus Army, more people are coming forward with disclosures of abuse that happened to them.

Due to this we organised another meeting with the Detective Superintendent of Protecting Vulnerable People in Northamptonshire.

If you want to report your abuse to the police, please call 101 and tell the call handler that you are reporting historic abuse that happened in the Jesus Army. Mention Operation Lifeboat and also that you have been advised by the Detective Superintendent to ask for Northamptonshire Police to be given your case initially, even if the abuse did not occur in Northamptonshire.

A message from Northants Police regarding the Jesus Fellowship.

I write as Head of Protecting Vulnerable People (PVP) at Northamptonshire Police. I am aware that you may have been subject to criminal conduct whilst a member of the Jesus Fellowship.

I would like you to know that should you wish to speak to Northamptonshire Police, as a victim or witness of physical, sexual or emotional abuse within the Jesus Fellowship (in any location), please contact us by calling 101 and quote Operation Lifeboat. If you do make contact arrangements will then be made for contact to be made with you by a Specialist Detective.

I know that thus far you may have made a decision not to contact Northants Police or to engage in a criminal investigation. This message does not seek to force you to make any decision you are not comfortable with, it seeks to offer you additional support and a conversation about the Criminal Justice options available should you wish to pursue them.
